Galerie Plaisance

Born in Rouen in 1903, graduate of the Central School of the Arts and Manufactories in Paris, Jean Pascaud, turns to furniture after the Exhibition of the Decorative arts of 1925. His furniture of massive forms but a big rigour of lines is mostly covered with veneers.

He uses fashionable essences,like ebony of Macassar, walnut, sycamore as well as fine and strict marquetries of metal, parchment or still shagreen in his furniture.

He particularly liked black lacquer finish for decorating. We can note that by 1935, he also produced furniture in silvered-glass.

He often presented during the exhibits of the Artists Decorators or in the Salon des Arts Ménagers in Paris a sophisticated and luxurious decoration. Pascaud collaborated with several architects. So,he contributed to the organization of several companies, legations, private houses or embassies as that of France in Mexico City. We can quote also his contribution in the organization of Rambouillet or the big passenger ships.
