 Ercole Barovier was the son of Benvenuto Barovier and the  descendant of the famous Angelo Barovier . At thirty years old he became partner in the familial company, the Vetreria Artistica Barovier & Co before becoming its artistic director in 1926 and president in 1936 by the fusion between Barovier and S.A.I.A.R. Ferro-Toso.
Thus, in 1942, the new company was renamed Barovier & Toso. He maintained artistic direction until 1972.
The creations of Ercole Barovier which  spread out over 50 years are consequent.
He invented numerous decorative techniques and forms which contributed to the revival of the glass.
From the 20s ' he had already acquired a great success with his creations for Primavera who was confirmed during the 30s ' with his creations and multicolored experiences of the techniques of "Crepusculo", "Autunno Gemmato" and " Laguna gemmata ".
If before  the second World War  he preferred soft shapes and rather thick materials, whereas in the post-war period his interest turned specifically to the field of traditional techniques like the series a « tessere » in 1972.
In the Fifties, his work distinguished itself for the vivid colors as well as for the singularity of the materials and surfaces like we can see in the « Barbarico » and the «Eugeneo » series.
During the Sixties and Seventies, he gave new interpretations of his a tessere glass with the « Dorici », « Caccia », « Rotellati » and others.
Ercole Barovier died in 1974.
